What Should I Say in a Tech Sales Interview?
Every sales interview is asking four things: can you talk, can you take a no, do you understand the business, and will you ramp. Answer those and the script matters less.

Whatever the posted questions are, a tech sales interview is testing four things: can you hold a conversation with a stranger, can you absorb a no without deflating, do you understand what this company sells and to whom, and will you ramp before the next board meeting. Answer in structure, close each answer on a number, and ask one question at the end that proves you researched the business. That combination outperforms any memorised script.
Tell me about yourself
Ninety seconds, three beats: where you built the relevant skill, the strongest measurable outcome you produced, and why this company specifically. Skip the chronological life story. The number is what makes the answer memorable, so pick one and land on it.
Why sales, and why here
Avoid 'I like people' and avoid money as the only driver. The answer that works names the part of the job most people dislike and says you want it: the measurement, the repetition, the fact that performance is visible. Then connect to the company with one specific detail, a recent funding round, a new product line, a customer segment they just entered.
The mock cold call
Most SDR loops include one. They are grading tone, whether you pause after the opener, whether you ask a question in the first fifteen seconds, and whether you keep composure when interrupted. Slow down about twenty percent from your instinct, state a clear reason for the call, ask one question, and do not talk over the objection.
Bring a written first-90-days plan
In final rounds, a one-page plan shifts the conversation from evaluating you to debating your ideas. Structure it in three phases: learn the product, the ICP, and the call recordings first; then run the motion with coaching; then contribute something the team does not already have. Candidates who bring this rarely leave without a clear next step.
The question you ask at the end
Ask what separates the reps hitting quota from the ones who are not, on this team, right now. It is specific, it forces a real answer, and it tells you more about the seat than any glassdoor page. Weak closing questions cost candidates offers more often than weak answers do.
